Yet another wreath I will never make again.

Hot glue gun burns,

too much spray paint, thinking it looked ugly half way through

and not having a clue what I was really doing turned into this.

Not bad. But never again.

I'm buying them next year.

I was raised with home-made costumes. I look back now and I friggin' love that fact! It seems that it is genetic or something because I cannot by any means send my kids out the door at Halloween without home-made costumes. It's like some sort of uncontrollable compulsion. So here you go. In a nut shell.

Big sister wanted Batman, so by default her baby brother got to be Robin. I learned a lot making these, like the fact that I will never use half of these fabrics again (talk about fraying), but all in all, they turned out great. I am grateful for Pinterest and being able to search the internet for inspiration. Best part, big sister wants to be a dragon next year. Oi.

Splish Splash, its Halloween

It is no surprise to anyone who knows me just how much I love Fall. It seems now that I have two children, each Holiday Season seems to start earlier each year. I love to watch the excitement in their eyes as they help me decorate. Although, having two children makes finishing decorating anything take a little longer, so we are slowly "doing up" the front door to celebrate the season. Aside from the pompom wreath from hell adorning our door, I changed out our no soliciting sign to match the season.

And of course, since I needed a little symmetry in the first stages of my Fall decor, I whipped up another sign for the palm tree next to the front door.

Of course, before all of this Halloween/Fall/Orange crafting took place, I finally got to a bathroom project for the kids. I am sure if you have browsed through Pinterest at all, you have seen these beautiful aluminum letters found in various stores.

I actually bought a few for our kitchen. Then I realized what a bitch it was going to be to hang them since 90% of our walls are brick.

In comes the many years of training while working in the Art Department for various TV shows and voila. You have this which was simply hung by 3M double stick tape.

Cardboard letters for $1 each at the craft store and spray painted with grey primer, flat black and chrome paint. I love the look and living in earthquake country, I am no longer worried about them hurting anyone or anything if they were to fall.

Pom Pom Hell

So I saw this great post over at Pinterest and thought, "hey, I can do that!" You know. Because I have so much free time on my hands. The post jokes that your hands will hurt when you are done from making so many pom poms but I couldn't imagine it could be that bad.

Until I started making it.

When you have to wrangle your husband in the midst of your project to help out, you know you may have bitten off more than you can chew, but late the other night, in a slightly obsessed state, I finished it.

To be honest, now that I have a little more free time, I quite enjoy projects like this even if they can be a little frustrating.

So, 200+ pom poms later, and here is the final product.

Now on to the kids Halloween costumes.

Feeling Crafty!

I have like 20 different projects going on right now, all that I would love to blog about, but none of which are done. Except for this one. Last night I had some time to myself and I actually started and finished one project. We are going to a 3rd birthday party this weekend for a child who probably has every toy in the world so I thought we would give her something home-made instead of store bought.

I thought if I got good at this, I could do it for a lot of upcoming birthdays because it is really inexpensive to do, but alas, it was a pain in the ass and very messy (good thing I read the tips from the person who pinned it on Pinterest) so I will not be repeating it anytime soon.

Funny enough though, when Jess came home he looked at it and thought I had bought it and then later told me that apparently Mikayla loves to draw, so double points for me eh!!

The weather

I bitch often about it not snowing out here because I love me a good snow day, and damn those Santa Ana winds for turning a damn fine cold run into 80 degree weather, but dammit all if I didn't actually enjoy stepping outside the house tonight to take C to see the moon.

It is beautiful.

Just goes to show that sometimes you can surprise yourself.

Doing the math

Half of 40 is 20.

Half of 20 is 10.

I have 10 months to loose 20 pounds before I turn 40.

Wish me luck.
