It's October... so of course, LA is on fire.

Normally when I watch the fires I feel a little disconnected since they rarely come close to my friends or family, but this time, it is a little different. A very dear friend who took me in years ago and let me live with her is, as I write this, packing up her valuables and getting ready to evacuate. As always, the Santa Ana winds are wreaking havoc on the area and causing misery for the fire fighters. The Sesnon Fire is burning in the park behind her neighborhood right now and getting dangerously close to the houses. She is luckily a few streets in, but as we have all seen in the past, when one house goes up, it is hard to stop the rest of them from going as well. I'll update when I know more but for now all I can do is watch and hope that the winds shift in the right direction or die down enough to make handling this fire a little easier.
